The Highway of Heroes Tribute honors every fallen Canadian soldier with a living, breathing memorial; a tree planted for each of the 117,000 men and women who have given their lives since confederation.

SGS feels a tremendous sense of civic pride, and is proud to support the Highway of Heroes Tribute by providing soil analysis, at cost, for every planting site along the Tribute.

Testing manure is the most accurate way of accounting for the amount of nutrient in your product. Average values for each manure type are available; however the actual test values within each particular livestock type vary widely.

With potentially thousands of dollars worth of nutrient in storage, it pays to manage the land application to most efficiently utilize the nutrients.

The available N is calculated for various rates of incorporation, not incorporated, and injected. As well, the available lbs per ton (or lbs per 1000 gallons) of P2O5 and K20 are also reported, allowing for the accurate crediting of commercial fertilizer.

For forage crops, that remove the whole plant, nutrient removal values can be very high. To maintain soil fertility, it is important to properly account for these removals and adequately replace. Testing manure to determine nutrient credits as applied allows the calculation of additional fertilizer required. Soil testing more frequently for forage fields will monitor fertility trends, and can also identify deficiencies of micronutrients, such as Boron for alfalfa and Zinc for corn.
