As we transition to a new operating system, our online access will also transition to a new platform called ‘QLab’. Clients that have previously enjoyed access to online reporting through will now find reports on a new site. This new site offers better historical searching and also allows graphical presentation of values.
The transition has been completed for greenhouse reports, is currently underway for feed reports, and will occur for soils in early 2016. Please contact the laboratory for login access to Qlab.

The quality of a mixed feed is, in part, the result of the uniform distribution of ingredients throughout. The determination of mixer performance is therefore an important step in high quality complete feed production. SGS offers mixer validation testing for common nutrients including manganese, zinc, sodium, and salt. A minimum of 10 samples must be provided.

As 2015 winds down, so does the year that acknowledges that soil is ‘where food begins’. We’d like to offer a final reminder to update soil test records. Autumn weather and harvest conditions have been exceptional, and the opportunity to soil sample should not be missed. Why not take samples on December 5th, which is declared World Soil Day, to commemorate its importance to productive agriculture?

Recent presentations by soil experts at agricultural conferences all have a similar theme: overall soil health and water infiltration is paramount to reducing environmental losses of nutrients. SGS was pleased to personally attend the announcement of Ontario's Provincial Soil "The Guelph Series" by Minister Leal.

Watch for new Soil Health testing packages to be unveiled in the new year!
