With over 25 years of experience, the MMITM soil geochemistry process has been a world-renowned exploration tool repeatedly proven to help programs identify surface anomalies from buried targets under different types of cover and landforms, and, across varied climatic regimes and mineralization types. MMITM measures the mobile metal ions that travel upward from mineralization at depth to unconsolidated surface materials such soils or tills, using complexing agents with strong ligands to detach loosely adsorbed ions and keep them in solution for ICP-MS analysis.
In this webinar we will discuss how recent enhancements within the suite of MMITM soil geochemistry packages have expanded its application in exploration programs. The MMI-MP precious metals package achieves lower detection limits of 0.05 ppb for gold and for the PGEs as well. The MMI-MV package was developed for vegetation samples such as tree bark. In boggy areas where soil sampling might be difficult it allows collection of vegetation samples to allow continuity of surficial sampling in these areas.
With growing interest in critical metals, we will describe how MMITM has been used in the discovery of lithium pegmatites. We will review the use of REE and other elemental signatures to identify a range of lithological types drawing on the large number of MMITM case studies accumulated over the years.
