The present economic conditions limiting exploration budgets creates a need for mining companies to obtain robust and bankable information to raise financing. Understanding the metal recovery of the ore has therefore become a key supporting requirement for resource evaluation, especially in support of NI43-101 reporting.
SGS has developed an early stage program, designed to provide information on metal recovery and mineralogy (and ARD potential of the tailings produced) all as a cost-effective package. The package is a combination of small-scale tests (mineralogical, metallurgical and acid-rock drainage) selected from the SGS database, based on head assay information.
The tests used to evaluate different unit operations will be summarized and the application of ESME to various commodities presented.
