As the mining and exploration industry undergo digital transformation for improved value creation, there are increasing demands for faster analytical data that underpin operational decision-making. To meet this challenge, SGS is introducing a suite of Field Analytical Services and Testing (FAST) services packages to complement its existing lab-based analytical services business. Based on robust field portable technologies, it FAST provides rapid chemical &/or mineralogical data that can be fed to modeling software or machine learning routines for improved exploration targeting or ore characterization.

Delivery of FAST on-site ensures that the availability of data is within a timeframe relevant to operations; maximising your investment. Consistent and systematic information is available to assist with decisions relating to activities such as the conclusion or continuation of drilling for each hole, or for assessing active drill programs based on the latest drilling results.  FAST allows decisions to be made now, for now; not for next season’s activities.

FAST package options that include continuous downhole EDXRF core scanning (for DDH or RC) using the Minalyzer CS technology, enable visualisation of analysed samples via a Cloud-based portal (Minalogger), enabling global team visibility, collaboration and over-site for field-based activities.  Site-based scanning enables Senior Geological Teams to effectively manage multiple drill programs simultaneously; no matter how remote they are to HQ, or to each other.

FAST provides field-based data that is:

  • Consistent
  • Quality-controlled
  • Timely
  • Accessible
  • Visible

From using FAST, you gain:

  • Optimized exploration and production,
  • Real-time decision making based on quality data gained in the field,
  • Resulting in speed-to-market
